4 CREEN-C000 VCTINS TURK Catches Man Who At- tempts for Second Time to Exchange Sawdust for Gold. MISSOURI MAN'S STORY Dingle Weeps While He Tells of His Vain Search for Money at Less than Face Value. In prosecuting an alleged green-goods man in the Adaras Street Court, Brook- Twn, to-day J. B. Dingle, of No. 413 TRead street, Moberly, Mo, admitted that tor years he has been making Peralstent but futile efforts to purchase money, or what would pass for it, at a pate much lower than he could get it tegally. He wopt when telling of the Guplicity of groen-goods merchants, who invariably sold him tissue paper or sawdust for hard-earned coin But when the same man tried to palm off sawdust on him the second time !n Ave years ho protested and says he will wow prosecute him. Dingle came to New York five years ago in response to a circular offering him $10,000 worth of money ‘‘Just as good as the genuine” for $00. He pald the $00, and when he got home he found a box filled with sawdust. A month ago he recelved a circular from New York saying that the sender had come !nto possession of the ste: plates missing from the Treasury De- partment in Washington, from which the $% and $10 bills of 1891 had been printed, and that he was printing sod Money. Dingle corresponded with him, and in return he was told to come to @ hotel !n Manhattan and there regis- ter under a designated assumed name. After that he was to go to his room and remain there until a man knocked, The pass-word was then to be “Front.” ‘The man came and Dingle recognized him as the same man who had fold him the box of sawdust, Dingle ordered him out of the house. ‘Then he reported the matter to the police, and Detectives Cullen and Bonner, ‘of the Brooklyn headquarters, arrested Henry Morris, alias Henry Phillips, whose picture 1s in the Rogues’ Gallery under the name of “Sheeney Harry,’ Morris, who !# fifty-two years old, is sald to be one of the best known green-goods men in the country. He has been making his head- quarters in a saloon at No. 1576 Broad- way, Brooklyn, DYNAMITER WAS A POLITICIAN, McKie, Who Wrecked a Wash- ington Hotel, Dabbled in West Philadelphia Politics, with Republican Leanings. ————- WASHINGTON, Sept. 26.—Frank Mc- Kile, who wrecked the Golden Eagle Hotel, at New Jersey avenue and D strect, Northwest, then committed sul- cide, was active in West Philadelphia politics while he lived in Philadelphia, He was a member of the Fortleth Ward Republican Club.
