According to the police records, Harrie, or Miles, has been convicted five times before. His first arrest was tn April, 187], when he and a gang broke into a bank al Watertown, N. ¥., and stole several thousand dollars. He was #! enced to Auburn prison for ten years for this crime, but escaped a few months after his conviction. He was recaptured but escaped again and while out of prison “squealed” on a@ gang of bank burglars and was given @ pardon in exchange for his informa- tion by Gov, Dix. A few months after his pardon he and several others were captured while rob- bing the First National Bank at Mont- peller, Vt., and was sentenced to four- teen years, He was released in 18%, and in April, °1891, was caught blowing 4 bank safe at Rome, N. Y., for which crime he got a sentence of five years. He was released from Sing Sing !n 1895 and went to Newark, N. J. Thero he opened dn filicit distillery and wns caught. For this he served etghteen months in the Snake Hill Penitentiary.
