GREW FROZEN IN ACY SHIP. Desperate Skipper Sends for Aid for Men Too Sore to Raise Anchor. NIGHT OF PERIL IN GALE. Sailors’ Fingers Froze in Rigging and Men Had to Be Car- tied Down. BRIDGEPORT, Conn., Dec. 5.—"'Send me a tow just as soon as you can oF my crews’ hands.will de in such a con- dition that they cannot lift the anchor,” were the words of Cap!. B. E. Sanford of the British barle Bristol. as he tele- phoned this morning from the Harbor Master's office here to the owners of the vessel, W. R. Grace & Co., Hanover Square, New York City. Captain Sanford is the skipper of the vessel, which ts now lying off Penn- Geld Reef with shrouds coated with an inch of ice and utterly heipiess.
