THE FIREBUGS, Mysterious One with Money Said to Belong to the Gang SCHOENHOLZ 1S REARRESTED. ‘Weiner, Who Acouses Him, Taken Into Custody on a Charge of Perjury. TWO MORE OF THE GANG CAUGHT. Sensational Disclosures Promised— Zucker, the Rich Tailor, De- mands Extradition. Fire Marstml: Mitchel, Assistant Dis- trict Attorney Davis and about half a Gogan Central Office detectives are still busy in the determined efforts to break up the gangs of firebugs that have een operating extensively in the city, Brooklyn und Jersey City, and to bring the members of the gangs to justice. "The Grand Jury to-day devoted nearly all its time to considering incendiary cases, ‘One of the interesting features brought out by the investigation is the reputed connection with ope of the gangs of firebugs, of a woman of large means. "The police refuse absolutely to say whether this is true or not, but when questioned about the matter their man- ner fe such as to justify the belief that the report is true: The efforts of the officers resulted late yesterday in the arrest of Isaac Zucker, & wef-to-do tailor, who lives in @ handsome house at Union Hill, N. 3.; Abraham Krone, of 236 Garfield place, Brooklyn, and the rearrest of Morris Bchoenhols, or Schoenhauer, who had Deen discharged but a short time before. In addition to these arrests on a charge of arson, Morris Weiner, of 285 Bast Fourth street, was arrested on a charge of perjury. Weiner had made an afftiavit, on which Schoenhols was arrested last Wednesday, In his affidavit, Weiner swore to having been present when Schoenholz and Harris Deutsch entered into an srrangement by which Bchoen- hols agreed for $0 to set fire to the tenement in which Deutsch lived. Wel- ner gave all the details of the transac- tion, even to having seen Deutsch pay Gchoenhols $20 in advance to bind the Daegain, ‘When Schoenhols was arfaigned for examination yesterday, Weiner, when examined, could not, or at least pre- tended he could not, remember any of the occurrences to which he had sworn in hie aMdavit, Zuckér was arrested at his home in Union Hill, When Mrs. Zucker learned that her husband was under arrest she became hysterical. Zucker refused to come to thia city without @ requisition, ‘and so was locked up in the Union Hill dail, ‘Bhe- rend Jury this afternoon in- dibted Zucker for arson in the first de- gree. Krone was arrested at Bond street and Broadway by Detectives O'Brien and MeCauley He protested his innocence and declared his arrest an outrage. He ‘was taken before Recorder Goff and held in 44,000 for examination to-morrow. He could not find bat! and was locked up in the Tombs, Schoenhols, after his rearrest, was also taken before Recorder Goff. Assistant District-Attorney McManus told Re- ler Goff that he was at the head of vhe firébugs’ and”asked that his bail be fixed at $20,000. Abraham Levy, the prisoner's counsel, aid that that amount would be exorbi- tant and asked the Recorder to fix the bail at $5,000. The Recorder fixed the bail at $15,000 and Schoenhols was com- mitted to the Tombs. It baw mow been definitely learned that Adolph Hirschkopf, who disappeared trom his home mysteriously lam Thurs- day morning, was not murdered, as was at first thought. Fire Marshal Mitchel knows his whereabouts, and it is said can prasuce im in court when needed to testify to the facts revealed by him in ritten confession, in which he gave in detail ngs of frebugs naar “city, ae Oe PRINCELY FRANCHISE GIFT.
