The explosion in the mine shocked the whole country around, wrecked the power p.ant, a fan-house and several other buildings, entailing heavy loss, but the death roll overshadows other con- siderations. Edwin Cox, the outside carpenter; James Bruce, outside boss; James W. Clark William Sellers, jr., and James Gernelly, an Austrian, were killed in the power-ho-we, while ©. Maltby, fore- man; Jerry Crawford and Andrew Ma- fon were injured, and died soon after- wards, the last three being about the ower-house at the time of the explo- sion. A few hours later the dead bodies of James Limb and Fred Morgan were brought trom the slope, only a short dia- tance down, but us this is written there is ground the mine a great throng of People anxiously inquiring regarding friends known to be in the mine, and all hope of any of them being alive is gone. How many were in the mine at the time of the expiosion will take time to teli, but the best information ob- tainable places the number at over eighty. Nearly all known to be killed eave large families. Immeditely after the explosion Supt.
