| | re 8 WEDNESDAY, JULY 29 TH ATTLE STAR Paths of Night Aglow in Symphony of Light}s Seattle Streets Gay With Gorgeous Colors Brilliant Decorative Display Brightens City for Conclave EATTLE citizens and the Seattle Knights Templar com- mittees ponded enthusiastically to the call for elab- orate decorations for t 36th triennial conclave, and a brilliant and gorgeous display of color and unique lighting effects at night are the result of their endeavors. The big feature of the night time is the battery of 12 searchlights stationed on the eminence of First Hill, form- ing a powerful source of light and effects that rival the Aurora Borealis as colored shafts of light sweep over the city, the downtown streets and far out over the bay, mingling separating as they search the great dome of the sky or flood the night ways with a dazzling illumina- tion. By day and night the great passion cross on the top of The Olympic Hotel lures with its powerful attraction of beauty. It is 42 feet high and covered with 15,000 jewels of ruby and crystal, with a golden border, By night its brilliance glistens in the flood beams of searchlights and by day it scintillates in the light of the sun. ; : Easily dominating the display of the day is the gigantic arch which thrusts its battlemented peak 90 feet into the gir above Second ave., at Marion Topping the huge structure is a great passi 20 feet high, and on each side of this are heroic figures 1 re epresenting knights, one in the armor of war and the other in peace-time costume.
