Is it always the necessary things that count ssary I have a friend who was married about th« as I, 23 years ago. Her husband gave her a when they were engaged. They were pressed { money when they were married, and used the engagement ring as a wedding ring. Her husband has been dead now for five years and she is having quite a struggle to keep het small family. She has often told me the me ries this ring brings. To her it seems to stand for something that has been worth while, I have another friend who has been married 17 years Her husband boasted at the time they were married that he wouldn't be foolish enough to spend money on rings His disposition is almost told right there. He is selfish, giving only when it benefits him. His table is heaped up with the best of food, His chair, when he sits to read his paper is large and comfortable, his bed is the best money can buy. His wife has a good cook stove and ice-box, but no pantry or storeroom or other things he could well afford to make her work light. My husband, when we were engaged, a little years ago, gave me an engagement ring ‘set with two small diamonds and a ruby. It cost him about $28.50, and believe me, it was a hard struggle for him to pay for even had so little money we couldn't even afford a wedding ring. After the wedding and we were alone, he put a small ring on my finger about one-eighth inch wide. He said: “This was my mother’s wedding ring. I wanted to use it, but I didn’t know what you would think because jit wasn't new.” I almost wept. He has given me nicer things since, but I have always kept the two small rings (they are both | about the same width) repaired and I have worn them lever since. I wouldn't, for a great deal, part with these Doctors Tell Advantages Of | rings, and the memories they bring. Why, Miss Grey, are you so hard upon the girl who I think the man who wouldn't} give her some kind of a ring, if she wishes it, is a poor scout. WwW. oy Bless your heart, gagement ring. What I tried to get at in my answer to the young chap whose fiance treated him coldly because he did not give her an engagement ring was “how little thing like a ring make so much difference when two people profess to be in love" —true love, up of sacrifices. The man’s motive in not getting the was not selfish. He wanted the payment on a little home for her. I'll wager he'll make a fine husband—the kind who will find a way to bring a bouquet of flowers on her birthday, wedding anniversary, etc., even if he can’t afford jewels or expensive gifts. Too much sentiment cannot be attached to the “little band of gold,” placed on milady's finger during tha wedding rig whe | 06 remony, but I still maintain there is a bit of feminine) vanity attached to this engagement ring proposition. Wrap In a clean sheet and leave until the next day. Give it another good rubbing; then shake out all the whiting you can and brush briskly with a clean clothes brush. It will now be quite clean, except for the skin at the bottom of the fur. To rcmove the dirt from this, get the fur over the back of a chair and use the point of a clothes brush very briskly, at the same time giving a short puff of wind every time you give a stroke with the brush. With a little practite, you will remove every truce of whiting, grease or dirt. Lastly, pour alcohol on a plate, dip point of brush’ in this and light- ly pass over the fur; move the brush the samo way. the fur runs. Read what these users say from time to time in our advertisements, (as in the case above). Two Kinds All motor oils, with no exception, deposit some carbonaceous residue. One kind is hard and gritty—an abrasive. It clings to valve heads, cylinder walls and pistons and causes power losses and extra wear. It covers and short-circuits spark plugs so the motor misses and jerks. Its tendency to cling and stay makes it form fast. You have ‘‘carbon”’ every 2,000 or 3,000 miles. But there are two kinds of ‘‘carbon”’. The other is like this: | Union Oil Company ISTO Motor Oil Have used Aristo for over four years, during this time have operat- ed a Dodge touring car and a Ford truck and have had no trouble with carbon. I consider Aristo an excellent lubri- cant and can cheerfully recommend it to anyone using motor oil. Cannot give the exact mileagetrav- cled by each piece of equipment but it is probably over 20,000 miles. (Name on Request) ‘That’ Blows Out with the aK Almost As Fast As It Forms WE aretellingyou facts about Aristo” Soft and Flaky Aristo deposits a soft, fluffy residue. Most of it blows out with the exhaust as the motor runs. It doesn’t cling, or act as an abrasive—the little that may stay. ‘ It forms so slowly that many ‘users find removal is required from 1-10 to 1-5 as often as in the case of the hard,! gritty kind. Your car runs 10,000 miles without carbon instead of 2,000, and in scores of instances, from 20,000 up to 50,000 miles. You may want to try in yourmotor,' an oil that lubricates, saves wear and tear, and time, and gives this greatly increased mileage without “car-| bon.’ If you do, say “Aristo” — . don’t say merely ‘‘motor oil.”” For sale at all first class garages and service sta- tions. aaah, Avoid Motor Oils containing paraffin or asphalt or any other non-lubricating substance, Aristo Motor Oil is refined by the most ad- vanced processes designed to eliminate everything in the crude which has no lubri+ eating value,
