Ort-| (PAID ADVERTISEMENT) The Real Issu IN THE BONE BILL! In a last-minute effort to prejudice people and induce them to sign the Bone bill, numerous stories are being circulated’ to discredit the power companies and the Association, The issue before the people on the Bone bill is not who are the proponents of the bill or who is opposing it, but simply a question of taxation. Do the people of Seattle desire that the Puget Sound Power & Light Company, with its annual tax payment of $1,000,000, its annual payroll of $8,500,000, and its average annual expenditure in new construction of $4,500,000, remain in business, or do they want all of this property taken off the tax rolls and placed under municipal operation both within and without the city limits? The power companies of this state, through the Northwest Electric Light and Power Association, have conducted their fight against the Bone bill under their own name and will continue to do so. Every piece of literature which has been distributed and every adver- tisement which has béen run has been over the signa- ture of the Association. Neither the Association itself, nor any member company, nor any individual connected with the power companies, has been guilty of any illegal acts, nor have they induced any other person to commit any such acts. It is the inherent right of every individual to sign any initiative petition for any bill in which he or she be- lieves. The Association, however, believes that it is also its privilege to give to the public full information con- cerning the real purpose and effect of any such- petition. We, therefore, once again urge upon the taxpayers to thoroughly digest the contents of the Bone bill be- fore committing themselves to higher taxes.
