MOWAT 3107 ARCADE SQUARE MA in-0932 Detailed Description of the New Flemington Apartments BROADWAY, JOHN AND OLIVE WAY NOW OPEN AND READY FOR OCCUPANCY The “Flemington Apartments” have been built with a view of adding the advantages of an apartment to the comforts and conveniences of a home. They are ideally located at the northeast cor- ner of Broadway and John St. at the head of Olive Way, within fifteen minutes’ easy walking distance of the business part of the city and on the Broadway car line that gives unusual access to all parts of the city. The illustration on this page gives but a faint conception of the beauty of this building. It is built of the finest selected Clayburne pressed brick and trimmed artistically with terra cotta, giving it a most pleasing appearance and rank- ing it with the finest buildings in the city. The great superiority of these apartments, however, is to be found on the inside, where peo- ple dwell. The main entrance doors and casings are of solid mahogany and fitted with massive, attractive hardware. The main entrance and first and second floor stairways are finished with solid “Tokeen” marble. The hallways, cor- ridors and the front stairway are covered with the finest Bundhar Wilton carpet obtainable, with the finest hair felt padding, such as is rarely found even in the finest homes. An auto- matic elevator of the latest Otis improved silent type waits to be of service at any hour of the day or night. The apartments are constructed on the two- and three-room plan, and their outstanding fea- ture is their beauty and comfort. The famous Dunham method of vacuum steam heating in- sures that every room will be cosy even in the coldest winter weather, while the unusual amount of radiation alloted to each room insures a rapid heating after the steam has been turned on. The system is noiseless and efficient, and the homeseeker will find in The Flemington “comfort-plus” in the heating arrangement. In the finish of these apartments no pains have been spared to make them all that the most fastidious taste could ask. The floors are clear, quarter-sawed white oak. The walls are covered with the finest artistic wallpaper such as fs being used in the finest buildings in the East today, It has been especially selected to give the rooms that light, airy appearance so much sought and to harmonize with practically any type of furniture. The woodwork and ceiling have been covered with four coats of the finest white enamel paint. The upper windows and the French doors are of the latest leaded glass design, thus rendering them much easier cleaned than those with the antiquated wood divisions. The shades are all of one pattern and style, being of a light ivory finish with a silk fringe and tassel, with curtain fixtures guaranteed indefinitely against dis- coloration or rust. The latest improved shields cover the radiators and insure that no dirt will soil the cur- tains. The light fixtures are of a beautiful design and furnish an artistic background for the “golden glow” lights, For added lights and appliance convenience three base plugs have been conveniently located in every room. The Flemington kitchen is an achievement—attrac- tive, fresh; inviting as a kitchen ought to be. The floors are of solid marble; the walls and ceilings are covered with white enamel paint, making the kitchen sanitary and neat, and easily kept clean. The cupboard room is lavishly supplied—enough to satisfy any wom- an’s heart. No awkward benches will be found in the Flemington kitchens. In their place are provided solid oak dining room chairs which, with, disappearing tables, render the whole floor space accessible when desired. When the table is drawn it is supported by a special steel bracket from wall which allows plenty of comfort- able space under the table at all times. The ranges are of the latest “Westinghouse Electric” type and are too well known to require comment. The sinks are of one- piece, white enameled, consisting of drain-board, sink and back: Jarge kitchen windows which insures plenty of sunlight for all work there. The faucets are of the double type with swing spout and anti-splashing device, and the large soap receptacles are easily detachable for washing. The kitchen has no dark corners, plenty of sunlight by day and two lights reach every corner at night. The Mlemington Apartments have conveniences not to be found in any other kitchen in the city and which tend to make the work of the housewife easy and attractive. The bath rooms are.furnished with white tile floors and the tile wainscoating rises to a height of about fifty inches. The white tile is artistically relieved by a delicate blue border. The baths are the Pembroke pat- tern, enameled all over and tiled into recesses, thus leaving no inaccessible places to clean. The lavatories are white enamel and are provided with patent wastes, dispensing with the unsatisfactory chain and rubber stopper. The “built-in” idea has been extended to the soap holders, paper holders and toothbrush racks, etc. Large medicine cabinets, another built-in feature, are lo- cated conveniently over the lavatories and are provided with plate glass shelves and beveled plate mirror. Great care has been taken with the lighting and the fixtures have been placed to be of the greatest advantage. Gen- erous linen closets have also been provided in the bath room. One of the many new features of these apartments is the inside concrete fire escape and the fireproof steel doors. Each apartment is also furnished with a radio set which is one of the most powerful in the Northwest, capable of “listening in” on any of the cities of the U. S., most of the cities of Canada, reaching Alaska, Hawaii, as well as Mexico and some parts of Central America. In the basement a large, well lighted and well-venti- lated laundry is provided and equipped with the most modern steam and electric apparatus. Large stationary tubs are provided, as, also, electri Shing machines, four electric driers with auxiliary steam attach- ment, and an electric ironing machine that will iron the most delicate fabries without injury. This equipment is available to the patrons of the Flemington without any additional expense, The installation of the National Draft Control on the smokestack of our building is another evidence of~the care we exercise in the matter of cleanliness and sani- tation. This patented and perfeeted device is the last word in the solving of the smoke and soot nuisance, through the elimination of soot and the abatement of smoke, not only obnoxious, but so injurious to health and fabrics. The Northwest Draft Control Company, distributors of this device, have made in our building the first Type “A” Quality installations’ for Apartment Houses in Seattle—one that they and we are proud of, and further indicates the length to which we haye gone in our effort to perfect the comfort of our tennents. Telephone connections extend from every. apartment to the office of the manager, to the janitor, to the vestibule and to the delivery entrance, These ultra-modern apartments are open for your inspection and the management invites your attention. The most unusual item, considering the service offered, is their price, which ranges from sixty to one hundred dollars. There are no extras in the Flemington Apart- ments. One price covers everything—heat, light, fuel, ete. If you are interested in a fine building do not fail to look this one over, and if you would really like to have a “home” send your reservation in early, The manager will be in the apartments from 9 a. m. to 6 p. m, daily, to show apartments.. There will also be someone on the premises evenings until 10 p. m., for the same purpose. Appointments can be made by phoning CA pitl-0055. MANAGEMENT FLEMINGTON APARTMENTS.
