Frank C. Fuqua of the police traffic department Monday morning, in declaring his intention to round up violators of all traffic laws, especially those pertain- ing to automobile headlights. Fuqua said that headlights were the cause of many highway acci- dents and that his department was determined to cut down the highway toll. “It is not so much glaring head- lights as it is improperly adjusted lights, which throw their beams into the eyes of drivers coming in the op- posite direction,” he said. “The charge of improper head- lights does not apply only to small should all be tested and adjusted.” According to the statutes: “It shall be unlawful to install or use a light of more than 27-candle power in any motor vehicle head lamp equipped with a reflector... . or over four-candle power equipped with a reflector unless the same shall be so designed to diffuse the light and to produce sufficient light to re- veal objects at least 150 feet ahead and 10 feet on either side of the cen- ter line of such vehicle, and in such manner that the beam of light, when measured 75 feet or more ahead of the lamps shall not rise above 42 inches from the level surface on which the vehicle stands under all eonditions of the road.” The fine for glaring headlights is cars, but to all cars.
