Change your dollars into milk for underfed children—into food and clothes for the deserted mother and her family--into sympathetic visits and skilful care given by visiting nurses--into schools for men and women who have been cheated of the advantages you give your boy or girl—into saving of body and soul of the misguided girl—into friendly comfort for dependent men and women, making the eventide of their lives happier—into the helping hand to our fellow man who is down and almost out. These are some of the glori- ous things you can do in Seattle’s Welfare Bank—the Community Fund. No national bank is founded on a sounder basis than the Community Fund. The fifty welfare agencies and institutions supported wholly or in part by the Community Fund, are now a part of Seattle’s commercial life. As to the need there is no doubt; nor as to the great work they do. Economically Sound The economic questions are: Shall there be a single community fund under one efficient, business-like head, or shall the various Bepacies Bo it alone, blindly over-lapping each other in their solicita- tion for funds and in the work they do? Shall the stronger in money-getting ability prosper to the detriment and per- haps downfall of the weaker agency, even though the weaker may be equally worthy? In short shall there be undirected and unrestrained competition among them or coordination and cooperation? The day of wasteful competition is passed. Seattle has said to these benevo- lent and RULE Tia aie tt a) agencies—""Cut your expenses, eliminate all unessentials, eliminate nee your budgets, coordinate your activities and cooperate with each other and we will help you and will raise the funds you need." Results Attained Fifty institutions have complied. Results have been attained—higher effici- ency, less cost, less waste; only 7!;% the old hit-or-miss method; saving in time and annoyance-one campaign instead of 50; agencies These facts are proved.
