THE SEATTLE STAR TO THE PEOPLE OF SEATTLE This Week Will Allow Us the Opportunity for a Splendid Display of Our Civic Spirit Let Us Greet The President and Mrs. Harding Upon Their Arrival on the Morning of FRIDAY, JULY 27th Let us throng the high vantage points about the city to witness the memorable review of Uncle Sam’s fighting Armada which will take place in Elliott Bay between 9:30 and 10:00 a. m. Let us turn out en masse along the line of parade in which the President will partici- pate, that we may have a close-up view of our chief executive, and that he may know and feel our spontaneous welcome. Let us see that the children of our city are con- gregated at Volunteer Park and at Woodland Park, so that from their ocean of smil- ing faces the President and the First Lady of the Land may see a heartfelt welcome to Seattle shining out. Let us gather forty or fifty thousand strong in the University of Washington Stadium at 4:00 p. m. to listen to President Harding’s keynote speech on the Alaska situation. Let us greet him there in such a fashion that the President will carry a lasting memory of the pleasure he afforded us in paying our great City the honor of this brief visit. Let Us Extend Our Most Generous Hospitality to the Officers and Sailors of the United States Navy Now Assembled in Elliott Bay Let us assist the Fleet Entertainment Committee of our citizens in every possible way to show every “gob” and every officer that they are more than welcome in Seattle, the home port of the Pacific fleet. Let us, by our uniform courtesy and cordiality, bring them to know more of the great city of Seattle and of the kindliness of our people that they, too, may carry away with them a lasting impression of good of the “Seaport of Suc- cess,” located on the shores of Puget sound, “out where the West begins.” The Publication of This Greeting Is First National Bank Posi | O.
