J udge Hall Comments By Calvin S. Hall King County Superior Court Judge. In my opinion, the principal cause of the everincreasing sum ber of divorces is the lack of com sideration to the many responalblil ties and obligations that accompany the marital statue given by those contracting marriage, This lack of consideration i# due to the ease with which divorces are secured, the liberality of our divorce laws and the laxity of the courte in ew forcing those laws. | Most persons contracting marriage Jare willing to accept the pleasant things of married life, but refuse to make the sacrifices that go with ;it, and the number of divorces will continue to increse until those con ltemplating marriage give to it the serious consideration i should re ceive. | ‘This trresponaibiiny on the part jot those marrying, and the rushing linto the divores court at the first |nign of heavy weather, le a menace to the welfare of our country. Di- lvorces are responsible for 50% of }the delinquency in children and the jeonsequent delinquency of thone | ehtidren when they become men land women, | A realization that marrings fs # |sertous undertaking can cnly be jbrought about by making divorces more difficult to secure, To do this jwe must have « uniform divorce law, for nothing can ‘be accom plished toward leasening the num- ber of divorces while the divoree laws are severe in one state and easily secured in another. Distance is no obstacle to one desiring to sever the marriage bonds. This uniform divorce inw should be ex- plicit_and limited as to the grounds for divorcee. Incompatibility should not be one of the grounds. Mon by their crusity, laziness or drunkeness cause their wives to seek divorces, and the only punish ment they receive ts the granting of the divorce, which they are usually anxious to have granted, and the aasexsment of alimony, which in most cases is never col lected. The samo ts true of a wife |who, by disrerarding her marriage vows, breaks up the home, only she has no alimony to pay. Tho state by imprisonment punishes one who commits a felony, yet the breaking up of a home by the party at fault is & serious injury to the other spouse, to the children, if any, and to the state as well. In my opinion, the one responsible for that injury should receive the same punishment given for a felony, and that is a prison sentence. My remedy for the growing at vores evil would be a uniform dt vores law, limited as to the grounds for divorce, strictly enforced, and |drastic punishment for those re- sponsible for the divorce, Gotham Now Runs Subway to Hades NEW YORK, Deo, 14.—A woman dashing madly to get aboard a sub- way express train reached the door just as it was slammed in her fa ping to catch her breath, she Jared at the guard and exclaimed, |"Hell!” The guard leaned out be tween the cars and quickly rejoined “Just ie next train, Ford Runs 57 Miles on Callon of Gasoline A Decarbonizer, as increased t of Fords at the aw tele of jis the pr new automatto Vaporizer and which fn actual teat power and mileage 5 to 50 per cent and me removes every pu n from the cylinders hievernent of John A Stransicy, south Main Street, Pulkewana, h Dakota, A remark: able feature of this simple expensive device that {ts acti is governed entirely by the mot It is slipped between the carb and intake manifold and can b \atalled by anyone tn five min without drilling or tapping 4 ched, Ford care have made 40 to 67 miles on one gallon ne.
