Mrs. Topping spent 25 years as a minsonary in Japan under the board of the Baptist church, and ts familiar with the customs of the Japanese women. Her talk was sympathetic 1 mont, interesting. She briefly told of the few well known business women in Japan, and of what they were accomplishing in the business world, She portrayed Kobi, Japan, as the center of activity for the bus- iness and professional women, and waid that these women in Kobi were eepeciaily active in community and health service work. She told how they had organized such clubs as buginess and professional women's clubs, civic eluba improvement clubs, and were particularly interested in many kinds of changes. Mrs. Topping said that she felt that the women of Japan were look- ing to the women of the United States for new inspiration and ideals, and | werd endeavoring to follow the paths paved by the American women. She suggested, in closing her stimulating talk, that it would be a splendid idea for the Seattle club to organize a sister club in the Orient, and that | such an organization would be a real | help to the women of the Orient, to J enable them to get into closer touch with the Vusiness and professional women in America, She closed her talk by emphasizing the fact that “Unity among the women means the blessing of the race” .
