It’s 2 horrible picture—not the kind The Star would usually care to print. BUT NO PICTURE COULD BE SO HORRIBLE AS THE TEM WHICH MADE THIS THING PC SIBLE. A weak-minded boy—who should have been in an in- stitution for morons in the first place—murdered two | men in a fit of childish vanity. He was sentenced to } | hang. But Society waited so long that the boy, unable to stand the strain, decided to take matters into his own hands and starve himself to death. This, how- ever, was too easy; so watchful Society pumped liquid food into the boy to keep him alive until he could be executed. In the meantime, what was left of the boy's feeble mind gave way and he was mentally, if not physically, dead when he was carried, unconscious, to the gallows. That didn’t make any difference to Society, tho. With all the senseless savagery that drives a maniac to mutilate his victim’s body after he has murdered him, the senseless form of Harvey Church was wheeled out to the scaffold and hanged—solemnly, even piously. The hanging didn’t hurt Harvey Church. Only the mind can feel, and his mind was dead. BUT IT DID HURT EVERY MAN AND WOMAN IN THE COUNTRY WHO HAS BECOME A PARTY TO SUCH CRIMES BY VOTING FOR OR SANCTIONING THE LAWS UNDER WHICH THE HARVEY CHURCHES ARE CONDEMNED TO DEATH.
