Seattle Mes them all in unlim ited abundance, Carrigan declares. | PLENTY OF fH GRADE } ORE TO BE HAD HERE } ‘That there are great quantities | of high grade ore, tributary io} Seattle, is a fact that is little known | here, according to Carrigan, Eastern interests have sought to/ minimize the value and quantity of the fron ores on the Pacific Coast. The largest deposit of ore in this region is at Texada Island, about $0 miles north of Vancouver, B. ©. Millions of tons of ore are in sight here, running fram 60 to 65 per cent in metallic ore. Other large deposits are at Cop-} per Island, Serita, San Juan, Jor don river, Whatcom county, Skagit county, near Hamilton, and in the vicinity of Cle Elum. MOST OF THE DEPOSITS LOCATED ON TIDEWATER Most of these deposits are on tide- water, a tremendously valuable as- set when the cost of rail transporta- tion is considered. Coal of the very finest quality for coking is found thruout Washing- ton, Carrigan says. Much of it is Sound | wary superior to the coal that has built | the continent up the great foundries of Pennsyl- vania. That the Northwest can produce iron and steel is not a theory.
