Rainier, federal prohibition agents have arrested six men and have broken up « liquor industry said to have flourished since the advent of national prohibi- tion, it was announced Friday. They wound up their activities by arresting the proprietress of the log Cabin Inn, between Olympia and Tacoma, after she had solid them drinks, The six men are “Capt.” Long- mire, William Schinche, Charles Rice, George Stead, Raymond Adams and J. D. Anderson, All are beld in the county jal! ot Olympia, while charges have been filed against them before the United States commitioner in Tacoma, “This is the first time we have fone after these men,” said Gordon B. O'Harra, federal prohibition agent, who headed the raid. “They are typical Southern moonshiners, and make the finest quality of corn whisky I ever tasted.” PIPE NES TAPPED FOR “DEW” “WATER “They take great pride In thetr product, The fine cold, clear pring water they use is said wo be responsible in part for the ex cellent results obtained. They not only use springs, but tap the pipe lines that are used to carry water for irrigation projects In the region. “Ostensibly these men are small farmers. They are located on little ranches in the fastnesses of the hills. If @ man was not at home j] when we asked for him he was ‘out after to his still, “The price of moonshine of the first quality was uniformly $10 2 gallon,” said O'Harra. “They sell only in one galion lots, as a rule, tho we did manage to buy half 4 gallon each from two men. The Price in fixed and all deals are arranged by an agent, who/repre- sents all the moonshiners. We failed to learn the identity of this aon.” BETH LE ROY, id kal WOMAN TRAPPED O'Harra says that Olympia and Tacoma are the markets for prac tleally all the mountain dew out put of the Bald Hills. While O’Harra directed the raids, he was accompanied by a special taineers, in old elothes, and with several days’ growtty of beard.
