Jones, Washington, has introduced a bill providing for such establishm The commercial interests of the Pacific Coast are vitally inte in this legislation, so much so that representatives recently met New York to consider the question. At these conferences the sen ment was expressed that action to provide free ports should be at this session of congress. The establishment of free ports means much to Pacific ports. It means that the way will be provided for the upbuildi of industries and commerce such as has developed the largest po of Europe. Free ports provide facilities for the repacking, blendil mixing, cleaning and other manipulations or changes of goods to reshipped after being received from foreign countries; or for dist bution as manufactured articles for domestic consumption. Utility of Free Port “Free port” is the term applied to a certain specified zone seaport facilities where raw material from foreign countries n be deposited for an indefinite time without the present pre duties being levied by the federal government.
