RIGHT DRUG Co. sronES The Demand of the Day Is Sanitation 6é ICS IN DENTISTRY is nothing less than a practice of the dark ages and is used by the dentist of poor business methods to hide behind ta cover up his shortcomings.” —*“A store which has small patronage has to sell goods at larger profits to make a given income. The dentist is under the same general rule.” A GOOD EXAMPLE —You take Mr. Non-Advertising Dentist; he has one chair; a few patients a day, mostly friends drawn from his neighbors and church or society friends; his ability to turn out work is limited to a given amount; this dentist has to get a large profit. He can not buy goods in large quantities, as he has no use for it. To get the discounts on goods worthy of a dentist's time you have to buy in quantities an ethical dentist can not take in during the course of a year. —In other words, he is doing business on an ex- pensive scale—he has to get big precits. —For example, you take my Office. I advertise. I offer a price which you know is far below the ethical prices; but what have I got today? I have nine chairs; tomorrow I may have more. I have an up-to-date laboratory; all work» under my own personal supervision. I can buy supplies, not only in medium quantities, getting ordinary discounts, but in the very largest quantities, get- ting prices impossible for the small users to com- pete with. —My discounts alone on teeth will amount during the course of a year to more than the income for a month of an average non-advertising dentist. —The average non-advertising dentist who doés any business at all will make 80 per cent. I never have made over 30 per cent at my prices, but | = do so much more business—the same as the busy, store—I have a large turnover. Why Pay 50 Per Cent Extra Profit? Is it due to lack of business judgment on your part, or is it because you like to make presents to your dentist, or is it the lack of confidence? Are you afraid to patronize a dentist who adver- tises? 2. DR.J.T.
