Colman Bldg. Full blast and then some! These words very aptly describe # daily scene at the great Harbor Island ship repair plant of the To Dry Docks, Inc. Ever since the completion of the new yard at northwest corner of Harbor Island it has been going at full capaci employing in the neighborhood of 1,500 men, and the day the photograph was taken four vessels rested on the three drydod located at the plant—the greatest number of ships ever drydo at any one plant in the Pacific Northwest. And since that day docks have continually been kept busy with a long list of s! sailing vessels and other craft waiting their turn to go on. The picture shows the following boats on the docks: At f left the barkentine BENICIA occupies the plant’s 3,000-ton do In the center the freighter LATOUCHE, of the Alaska Ste: Company, occupies the company’s 12,000ton steel dock, and at right the steamship ADMIRAL WATSON, of the Admiral Line seen in the company’s 12,000-ton wooden sectional dock, kno along the waterfront as “Big Bill,” so named in honor of Mr. liam H. Todd, President of the Todd Shipyards Corporation. Beh the ADMIRAL WATSON, on the same dock, is the steam wi STAR I, of the United States Whaling Company, but she is visible in the picture because of the intervening hull of the Ad a Line's vessel. ‘* Importers and Exporters Head Office—Kobe, Japan Branch Offices Throughout the World a ep owe BReEes & COMPANY ae oe Forwarders, Coal Contractors, Ship Bunkerers i Foreign Trade Publications REGULAR STRAMSHIP machine shops fitted up to do engine and miscellaneous mach repairs of all descriptions; paint shop; joiner shop, provided with complete line of wood-working machinery; carpenter shop with the most modern tools, including frame saws, etc.; rigging blacksmith and forge shop equipped with steam hammers, ete., the manufacturing of all sorts of forgings; anglesmith shop; trical department with facilities for doing marine wiring of classes; pipe shop supplied with threading machines, and pip ting machines.
