"THERE must be no read thru the Cedar river watershed—not until the health authorities of this city are convinced that the purity of the water which Seattle people must drink, is not endangered. The enormity of the crime and it was nothing less--committed by the state senate in passing Senator Taylor’s bill the other day, is emphasized by the fact that it was “rail- roaded thru” without giving this city, the one whom it most concerned, any opportunity to be heard. ‘We don’t want to hear from any germ chasers,”’ the brilliant senator stated. The house will do well to show more of an American spirit of fairness in this mat- ter. It must hear Dr, J. S McBride, Seattle's health commissioner. AND IT IS GOING TO. Spring and another guard were off their beat and out of their province at the time | of the shooting, say the police. The trouble is believed to have originated between Beaton, foreman of the longshoremen, and W. J. Flynn, one of the guards. According to the police, Flynn had been subjecting various longshoremen to displays of au- thority. Beaton, in behalf of the longshoremen, is said to have remonstrated with Flynn, and ordered him off the dock. This resulted in a fight between Beaton and Flynn, in which Spring, according to reports compiled by the ~~ —~x Believed to have cut the throat of his ear-old wife as she lay asleep Wednesday morning, Emil Karhu, 24, mill mploye, is being sought by the police.
