Two years before I married my husband he was engaged to another woman. She says that she bitterly regretted her mistake and that she has never cared for anyone but my husband. She has led a very secluded life and I believe that what she says did not stoop to any deceit. He came home immediately and told me the truth. I was very angry and I am afraid I called this woman every vile name I equld think of. At first I consented to give him his freedom—but, Miss Grey, I cannot. This woman has the best kind of a reputation—has a great many friends who value her friendship highly. I did wrong to run her down to him. She was to have gone to France as a Red Cross nurse if the war had not ended, so I suppose there must be some good in her somewhere. Miss Grey, I want her to give him up-—SHE will have to be the one to do it. Can you help me? Can your readers help me? I want to try to reach that good strain in her. I want to write a letter to her first and I do not know what to say.
