THE SEATTLE STAR—TUESDAY, JULY 16, 1918. —————— “No Man Is Good Enough To Govern Another Man, Withouf That Other's Consent ” Lincoln—was the friend of the WORKER. Honest Abe—possessed a sympathy broad as the EARTH, and an INTERNATIONAL MIND. “T'm always for the man who wishes to WORK.” “The strongest bond of human sympathy, outside the family relation, should be one unit- ing ALL working people—of all nations, tongues, and kindreds.” “NO man is good enough to govern another man, without that other’s CONSENT.” These utterances show where Abraham Lincoln stood—and they show where AMERICA stands today. America is the friend of the WORKER, the same as LINCOLN was the friend of the worker—if America isn’t worth WORKING for, and FIGHTING for, then NO country IS! America and ALL THE WORLD ARE MOVING UP to the standard of LINCOLN, and AWAY from Hohenzollernism. Feudalism is making a last desperate fight to CHAIN MANKIND! Moth-eaten “DIVINE RIGHT” is attempting to STOP the enward SWEEP of Lincoln’s DEMOCRACY. Either the POTSDAM GANG MUST GO—or ALL THAT LINCOLN STOOD FOR MUST GO—the earth is too small to hold BOTH. Which shall it be? The HUN and SLAVERY, or LINCOLN and LIBERTY! The enemy isn’t letting any grass grow under his feet. He’s at it early and LATE—he neither slumbers nor sleeps—he raises hell by DAY, and attacks in force by NIGHT. The only way to WEAR HIM DOWN, and put him back where he BELONGS, is to STAND UP TO HIM ALL THE TIME! Every man in this nation MUST BUCK THE HUN HARD! The MILLIONAIRE MAGNATE VIES WITH HIS MEN in serving his country now! This is not a war in the interest of any AMERICAN CLASS—this war is FOR THE RE- DEMPTION OF THE WORLD! The BIG BOSSES must work—the SUPERINTENDENTS must work—the FOREMEN must work—and the BOYS AT THE BENCH must work as they NEVER WORKED BEFORE! The man that SKULKS, or SULKS, or STALLS, or SHIRKS—the man that LAYS OFF on the merest pretext AT A VITAL TIME LIKE THIS-is doing a WICKED THING! Whether he realizes it or not, he is ARRAYING HIMSELF WITH THE HUN against Abraham Lincoln! He’s going against America—his best friend! They call them COWARDS and QUITTERS when they throw down their GUNS in the face of the enemy, in the FIGHTING line—but they are no more cowards and quitters than the men who lightly DROP THEIR TOOLS in this hour of their country’s need—in the WORK- ING line!
