A few would come clean, and would answer you something like this: “I have nobody to blame but myself, that things haven’t been BETTER. I’ve been too given to talking it over in bar-rooms—I’ve lacked the sand to PUSH OUT— I haven’t been TRYING to be bigger than my JOB—I’ve never started out in real EARNEST to BE somebody, or GET somewhere in the world. The plain truth is—Ive been falling short of SUCCESS because I HAVEN'T BEEN PLAYING THE GAME-—and that’s all there IS TO it!” A man’s never a MAN until he WAKES UP.
