STAR—TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 1918. PAGE 8 ? garnet calls for two billion more dollars in the Third Liberty Loan. With three billion practically assured in the first week of the greatest loan drive this or any other country has ever seen, the cry comes from across the sea for More Men, More Ships, More Money. Our Allies are at bay before the terrible onslaught of the Hun! Seattle has done splendidly, but Seattle must do more. Seattle must not let her own record in the Second Liberty Loan stand---the Third MUST be GREATER. With all the prosperity, with all the business, with all the money rolling into Seattle, since that Second Liberty Loan, this city MUST drive on to a higher figure than her sixteen millions in October. Germany’s Foes need help as never before. Dollars NOW will DO the work that hundreds of dollars might FAIL to do later. America’s response has been wonderful---but a new goal has been set---five instead of three billions. We MUST NOT FAIL! This comes right home to YOU— YOU who are reading this page now. It means that the money you have put into Liberty Bonds must be only a starter, if you are to hold this Free- dom that means more to us Americans than life itself. If you have bought a $50 bond in this drive, go down in your pocket for another, and yet another. If you have bought a thousand $50 bonds, you still have not done enough. ~~ = Liberty Bonds Are United States Government Bonds. They are supported by every dollar of the enormous resources of the United States. They bear interest at a rate higher than earned by any other class of Government bonds. They do not represent a war gift or donation but the highest type of profit producing investment. They are in denominations ranging upward from $50 to suit the convenience and the finances of every American who wants to help his country. They are transferable and constitute an ideal security. If you are willing to help your country any ank or trust company will help you by accepting your order and arranging terms of payment without the imposition of any commission or charge for its services. Any Bank Will Help You If you have bought no Liberty Bonds—and have two hands that will earn you the money to pay for them— then something’s the matter with your patriotism, with your Americanism. This drive is only beginning. Amer- ica wants twenty million citizens to be holders of Third Liberty Bonds. That is 75,000 for Seattle. Where do YOU stand? Hear Major General Swinton, Inventor of the British Tank, at the Masonic Temple Tonight. WASHINGTON LIBERTY LOAN COMMITTEE JOSEPH A. SWALWELL, State Chairman. This Page a Contribution to the Third Liberty Loan Campaign by the Puget Sound Navigation Company, Joshua Green, President. R. R. FOX, Chairman Seattle Auxiliary District. A. L. HAWLEY, King County Chairman. Bond ~ TODAY
