Philosophers and moralists say it’s bad to be born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth—that it’s better to begin at the bottom; and work up: Be that as it may, the WORKER who has his LIVING to make by his own ability and effort—WILL GET ON FASTER IN A LIVE TOWN. It’s a great thing to be right on the ground, where all sorts of things are happening, where the door of opportunity SWINGS WIDE, where there are CHANCES TO CLIMB: seattle is one of the busiest towns on the globe. Industrially, commercially, and in population increase, she is expanding faster than any other big American city. Seattle, in the period covered by the last government census, showed tremendous pop- ulation growth. There is every indication that she will show another tremendous growth when the next census is taken. But not in population alone is Seattle waxing mighty---she is taking on power and importance thru all her business pores. There are more shops and factories in Seattle today by 25 per cent, than there were four years ago---there are TWO- THIRDS more WORKERS employed, and considerably more than double the money is now being paid out in WAGES, compared with four years ago. Seattle is a fine city to work in, to live in, to own a HOME in, and to raise a family in.
