STAR—MONDAY, DEC. 10, 1917. PAGE 4 roclamation Tre UNITED STATES is now engaged in the greatest war in its history. Our lack of preparedness has cost the people months of delay, many lives and billions of dollars. Our men are now on the firing line and we are just receiving our first list of casualties. With our greatest endeavor we can hardly be properly prepared for the relief work that will. be necessary when our men reach the front in greater numbers. Our great President, Woodrow Wilson, the head of the National Red Cross, and his associates have decided that it is necessary to make a great membership campaign for the purpose of adding TEN MILLION new Christmas members to the Red Cross at ONE DOLLAR EACH. Come and Join the Work abandoned their businesses that they might direct the work of the National Red Cross. The sad experience of other countries in this world conflict has taught them of the tremendous relief work that must be accomplished following the operations of our army. It is absolutely necessary that every patriotic cit- izen of Seattle do his or her part in order that the Red Cross may have the funds with which to care for our Sammies. It means that you who stay at home must send your dollars to France through the Red Cross to protect the boys that Seattle has sent “over there.” Every Man,Woman and Child in Seattle must join the RED CROSS by Christmas Day Don’t Wait to Be Asked--- Ask Yourself!
