PAGE 4 Stop the Returned Goods Abuse and Eliminate Waste The Government Asks Your Co-operation HERE are many thousands of people employed in the stores of the country doing work absolutely unproductive and unnecessary, that is occasioned by the abuse of the Returned Goods Privilege. Many of these people have been drafted, and if the Returned Goods Abuse is not stopped the stores will be compelled to draw people from much needed and useful work, to replace those drafted. The Commercial Economy Board of the Council of National Defense, Washington, D. C. has requested the merchants of the country to help eliminate this waste of both labor and materials, and has asked them to urge their patrons to Shop Carefully and Return as Few Goods as Possible Merchandise thoughtlessly and carelessly bought, and afterwards returned, means Waste, Decreased Efficiency, Loss to the Merchant, Higher Cost_to the Public It is every one’s patriotic duty to eliminate waste. Help the merchants help the Government. Not only will the country be served, but by the elimination of a grave abuse the price of merchandise will be lowered and the saving will be yours.
