Less Meat Being Eaten Because of High Cost The strength of American manhood, the greatest on earth, has been made largely possible by the great per capita consump tion of meat obtaining in this nation. In the past, the average American has expended as much for meat as he has expended in total fofr potatoes, tea, sugar, coffee, molasses and rice! The average consumption of beef in the United States up until 1909 was 87.5 pounds per person; in 1914 this had fallen to 73 pounds, A8 A DIRECT RESULT OF HIGHER PRICES.
