Four months ago | announced that I was through with special sales. The high price of woolens caused by the war had made it impossible for me to give these “specials” with any hope of profit. In a recent number of The Saturday Evening Post an ex- pert on woolens pointed out the great shortage of woolens the world is facing and predicted that you would pay a tribute of at least $5 to the War God in the shape of a raise in price on your next Fall’s suit. Every woolen man, every clothing man and every tailor in the land knows this is true. If I could simply stand pat and hold my present great stock of woolens for another year | could make money in the advance of prices. But business must go on, my tai- lors must be kept busy and, worst of all, I must raise cash to pay the woolen houses for the goods already sent me. Not a pleasant situation. The cold, rainy season we have just passed through has simply killed the tailor- ing business—not only mine, but everybody else’s. | can’t stand an idle shop. If I don’t go forward I'll slip backward. My sewing machines have got to whirl, my men kept at work and my store alive or I'd go nutty. Hence this sacrifice—and to sacrifice woolens now is like selling $10 gold pieces at 50 per cent off. My stock of woolens is the biggest carried by any tailor in this state— absolutely. Everything that a well- dressed man calls for—serges, chev- iots, tweeds, foreign and domestic, in an almost endless variety of weaves, shades and colors.
