"THERE may be an honest reason why anyone should want the Vashon ferry to dock at Des Moines, 18 miles from Seattle. If there is such a reason, it has been rept a secret. County Commissioner Lafe Hamiliton, who lives at Des Moines, wants the ferry to dock there. Why? Real estate men of Des Moines want it there. It is easy to see why they want it. The Vashon ferry is to be a county ferry, belonging to the people of the whole county. The principal purpose of this ferry is to aid farmers in : bringing their products to market—and the market is in Seattle, not Des. Moines. Why the farmers, or, for that matter, any one, should be com- pelled to drive 18 miles to Seattle, when the ferry can dock at the Port of Seattle’s Madison st. dock, free of charge, is beyond comprehension. Wednesday afternoon there is to be a public hearing in this matter in the commissioners” office. Will the commissioners give the people a raw deal or a square deal? If YOU want the ferry to dock in Seattle, and not 18 miles out in the country, YOU should attend the hearing and tell the commissioners so. The meeting opens at 3 p. m.
