Why are you so intensely, so frantically, eager that under no circumstances shall any one be on the election boards but republicans, wher- ever you possibly can accomplish that nefarious result? The tone of your letter is dishonest in good morals, at any rate. It is just such letters, it is just such men as you, who have brought the republican party into disgrace, and are keeping it in disgrace. There are thousands of republicans who are incensed at your stupid letter. The very fact that your letter has not remained secret is proof of this. The rank and file of the republican party is against such diabolical tactics as you have approved. The Star is not making any partisan attack against the republicans. It is making a plain and direct attack upon you, Mr. Whitney, as an indi- vidual chairman of the county committee, and upon all members of that committee who are parties to this rotten deal. You have proved yourself un- worthy to lead any party. THE SEATTLE STAR. EAGUR OF NEWSPAPERS HEMBEN OF SCRIPPS NORTHWEST Press Ass: as Second- ix mos. $ co.
