Sol SHOULD voORRY ABOUT PEOPLE'S OPINIONS THE people of Seattle who, two years ago, voted * for the purchase of additional power facilities for the city, and who have watched the council frit- ter away those two years, will do well to follow the action of the Commercial Club on a resolution now before that body. The club’s special committee, after a long in- vestigation, has reported fully on the White river the council to proceed to acquire that site in accord- power site and has submitted a resolution urging ance with the vote of the people. However, P. H. Hebb, owner of the site, con- tends, and many of the engineers who have inspect- ed it agree with him, that his project is capable of such economical development as compared with other contemplated sites as to more than offset the pur- chase price. It is contended that the transmission lines alone for the proposed Lake Cushman site, 70 miles away from Seattle, will cost three times as much as the same equipment for the White river site.
