The little band of senators who succeeded in having the $34,000,000 appropriation reduced to $20,000,000 have won the admiration of the nation. Even the reactionary morning organ in Seattle applauded them. Yet this same organ is supporting Will E. Humphrey for congress from this district. And Humphrey has voted for every “pork barrel’ bill that ever came. up. Scan Humphrey’s record. It is a barren as a desert in human advancement, in better- ment of labor conditions, in making life easier. But it is full of “pork barrel,” which makes the burden of taxation bigger and bigger. Humphrey grabbed mileage money to which he was not entitled. And who paid this “pork”? The people, of course.
