NO, 302. SEATTLE, WASH ATURDAY ‘EBRUARY 14, 1914. Oo > CENT 2%,,uh4!x2 ‘Two Facts and a Rumor : ! It has never yet been the good fortune of Seattle to go through a mayoralty campaign in which i the Seattle Electric concern did not insist upon taking an active part, AN ACTIVE FINANCIAL PART, A D IN FACT. SEATTLE SONGBIRDS BALK AT TIGHTS IN HOME-MADE OPERA date, but generally it has been just as easy for the people to find out before election which was the traction candidate. In this campaign, however, with ten candidates in the field and with things generally muddled, it has not been so easy to pick the candidate wearing the Seattle Electric yoke. A few developments during the last week should therefore be of considerable interest, and possi- ble profit, to the voters. HERE ARE TWO FACTS: R. V. Ankeny, head of the Furth bank, is for Trenholme. his selections, AND TRENHOLME HEADS THE LIST. William B. Grambs, purchasing agent of the Furth street car company, and a sort of political fixer for that Special Interest, is soliciting support for Trenholme. THOSE ARE FACTS. Here is a rumor: The report has been freely circulated during the past few days that Jacob Furth, head of the traction concern, and general champion of special privilege, contributed $7,000 to the Trenholme campaign. The rumor says that Furth, J. C. Goldsmith, Col. Perkins, the Guggenheim representative, a certain newspaper editor, and four of their associates, over a month ago, agreed among themselves to support Trenholme. Maybe the traction interest fellows are split. Maybe they are playing the mutt game of scattering their shot, but there has never yet been a campaign in which they did not know just what they were doing, and in which they did not all do the same thing, AND IN WHICH THEY DID NOT ALL SUPPORT AND PUT UP MONEY FOR THE SAME MAN. Two facts and one rumor, at any rate, ought to put the voters on guard. SEN, GORE SUIT MINERS KILLED WELL ZIP ALONG SOME WHEN WE se: GET OUR SUBWAY Jense Wel By Fred L.
