At the same time three commis. sioners are to be elected to serve without pay, in case a favorable vote is given by the people for the creation of the district Will Buy and Clear Land These commissioners will be em-| powered to issue bonds, as approve by the law, to acquire logged-off lands tn King county, which will be the boundaries of the district Two limitations are placed upon the purchase of such lands: First, the price shall not exceed $20 per acre where more than 20 acres ts purchased frem one individual or firm, Second, where the commis stoners feel justified in paying more than $20 per acre, they are limited to purchasing only 20 acres from the} Logged-Off Land Bill Will Help the Homeseekers How the Logged-Off Land Law Works John Smith wants to get back to the simple life, He has been a bookkeeper, let us say, or a teamster, or hod carrier, these many years, or maybe he is one of the new Immigrants who will come here in thousands when the Panama canal ie opened. Smith ie not overburdened with money. So he applies to the commissioners of the logged-off land district. Under their direction, the district has acquired and cleared a number of tracts. If Smith is a married man, and has a family, he will be given preference over an unmarried man. The commission will sell him a tract of land—the smallest area practicable—on the instaliment plan, It will charge him the cost of the land and the cost of clearing, with 5 per cent Inter will be given 20 years In which to complete the pay- ment The Interest charged him is only 14 per cent more than the district pays on the bonds to carry on the logged-off land improvements. This ') per cent will take care of administra tion costs, The commissioners receive no salary Summed up, it meane that the district practically loans the money to the settler, which must be repaid in installments for .
