Solonel Roosevelt’s Last Word to the Voters of This State | F deer C..Snyder, State Chairman ie gees Party, Seattle, Wash.: ote ose dpi stl hope for the success of the entire Progressive ticket in Washington, including especially our candidates for . NO. 213, SEATTLE, WASH., MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1912. ONE CENT oxa@sinuar®,. HOME EDITION IT’S UP TO YOU Your cause, men and women—your welfare, the welfare of your children, depends upon you, in the battle of tomorrow. ; The lines are drawn. Your enemies have helped to draw those lines. The issue is plain. Humanity stands on the one side; on the other stand dirty dollars, crooked gang rule, and insolent conscienceless bosses. Surely there is no doubt in the hearts of honest men and women under which banner they shall enlist and do battle. Men and women, your party is the Progressive Party.’ You will serve your cause, the cause of all humanity, tomorrow by putting your cross under that banner. } That will record your vote for Roosevelt, for Johnson, for Hodge, for Teats, for Falconer, for Bryan, for Landon, for Phelps, and for every sturdy champion of the people... . But more---that vote will record your approval of and your support of the greatest declaration of human rights ever written into a party platform. It will record your approval of this party that came into being to serve you and yours. Your vote tomorrow and the vote of your neighbors will help to make this party of the people, this party of principle, a living, fighting organization. It will make a living reality the hope fortwo generations of all who fought for truer justice, of all who have fought for higher and better things in life. This party of the people, its life and its dominance is the ONE BIG VITAL ISSUE and it is on this basis that The Star on this the last day fervently urges its great army of readers to stand solidly and unitedly for the Progressive Party, for the men, REAL MEN every one of them, who offer td serve you under that banner and under the contract of that platform. It is on this basis that The Star departs from its usual custom of picking men from various tickets. More than the de- ‘feat or victory of any man, is at stake. The opposition is united upon the standpat republican ticket. The ticket represents their cause, the cause of the bosses, the spoilers, and the looters just as the Progressive Party represents and champions the ‘cause of the plain people. t ess It is for these reasons that The Star urges its readers to unite and not to waste the force of their shots by scattering them. ee And the difference between the candidates of the two parties is just as plain as is the issue between their principles. eee) | Roosevelt or Taft, Hodge or Hay. It is useless to inject side issues into the case. In this state the battle is between {| Hodge and Hay. Between the puppet of the political bosses, the tool of the crooked gang and a plain man, a fighting man, -f'a man of the people. | Hay or Hodge---which? It is not a new struggle in this state. The people fought it out two years ago and they whip- ped the bosses by electing Poindexter. : —_ — - ~ It is not a new struggle. It’s the age old struggle ‘between dollars and humanity. ALL READY FOR THE BIG KICK ~~—~*&d:’ : eg : If it is Hay, dirty dollars triumph, juggling with ‘the people’s interests will go on. The people will be given no more than enough to soothe them into |tranquility while they are robbed. Extravagance will continue, corruption will go on. The machine will be dominant as of yore. If Hodge wins, there will be a new deal. The peo- ple will have a chance. The machinations of Dirty Dollars will be overturned, and Man will be above Mammon. That is why the whole machine has sought by slander, falsehood and the dirtiest kind of political campaigning to divert: the attention of the people. With their own machine dripping with human blood and weak from its very rottenness, they cry “Thief! Thief!” in a last desperate effort to hoodwink the voters until they can again get their strangle-hold on the necks of the people. Yes, the issue is plain. It is between humejity and organized greed. It is ase = - between dirty dollars and common decency. It is between Hay and Hodgs. SS 7 7 reg : It is between the bosses and the people. And tomorrow is the people’s day---your day. You can rebuke dirty dollars. You can repudiate the crooked gang. You can kick the crooked bosses out of your public affairs with a vote for Bob Hodge. IT’S UP TO YOU.
