Near ly everyone is familiar with the solos, choruses and delightful satire of “Pinafore.” The company scored the same hit they made with the “Mikado” and the “Pirates of Penzance.” The whole troupe seemed to be enjoying it as much as the audience. Of the principals, George J. McFariane as Captain Corcoran was perhaps the best. He had to respond to three recalls at the end of his opening | ————. song. Much regret was expressed because De Wolf Hopper was cast for the part of Dick Deadeye The part hardly gave him enough to do and the audience wanted more of him. At the end of the first act, in answer to cries from all over the house he recited his famous “Casey |= at the Bat.” Arthur Aldridge was a perfect Ralph Rackstraw. The Right Hon- orable Sir Joseph Porter, K. C. B., First Lord of the Admiralty, was well played by Arthur Canningham. Bugene Cowles was slated in a small part, but had his chance in the last act. Alice Brady captivated all with her Cousin Hebe.
