It Is Important to Have Good Councilmen Men of good sense, sound judgment and strong char- acter, broad enough to legislate for the good of the entire city, not for any particular following or faction. SUCH MEN KEEP DOWN THE TAXES AND PROMOTE PROSPERITY The recommendation of the Citizens’ Association is as follows: For the three year term vote for THREE of your own selection from the following: J. J. Doheny, John G. Peirce Paul B. Hyner, Wilbur S. Lewis A. F. Haas, Geo. T. McNamara For the one year term vote for ONE of oyru own selee- tion from the following: Howard Tilton F. W. Strang These men were endorsed without being consulted; have made no pledges and are free to act as their own conscience and judgment dictates. CITIZENS ASSOCIATION, J. S. BRACE, Chairman. F. R. SINGLETON, Secretary, A PUBLIC FERRY IS A PUBLIC ROAD Do you realize that? The Kirkland Ferry on Lake Washington is as much a public highway as the road leading to Everett or the Spo- kane avenue bridge. Moreover, it is the only wagon road connecting Seattle with a great portion of King county. If the ferry breaks down or is taken off for repairs, then what? Why, all farm wagon and automobile traffic across the lake is absolutely stopped. This shuts off from the Se- attle public markets all the farm and dairy produce that comes in over the Kirkland ferry every day. Even when the Kirkland ferry is running steadily, it cannot even now in the summer time handle the traffic that is offered it. Many a farmer was left sitting.on his wagon on the Kirkland Pier last summer. The ferry couldn’t hold his wagon and the foodstuffs it was bringing in. All this is fine for the California farmers, but tough on our own ranchers. These are the things that make another public ferry for the south half of the lake an imperative necessity. An- other ferry is needed at once, TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ONLY WAGON ROAD FOR THE FARMERS ACROSS THE LAKE IS KEPT OPEN, and to help those farmers to get their produce in to the Seattle consumers, who are now using California produce because their own farmers can’t get it in to them. On March Sth be sure and vote for PROPOSITION SIX on the Port Commission ballot: Proposition SIX means the Bellevue Ferry. It wi!l cost King County $150,- 000, and for that small sum will add millions to the tax- able wealth of the county. BELLEVUE FERRY COMMITTEE E. P. MORAN, Secretary. 867 Empire Bidg. Phone Main 911.
