Bianchi Is Acquitted After a heated discussion In the jury room, lasting several hours, Detective Joseph Bianchi was ac- quitted, last night, of the charge of manslaughter for the death of stank Harris, whom he shot in an alley on Washington when the jatter failed to stop Bianehi's order, and ran to escape arrest. The Bianchi trial lasted two days. Several of the detectives’ colleagues testified to the reputa- tion of Harris, whom they charged with being a dope fiend and habit ual burglar. Bianchi himself tes- tified that only meant to bit him in the leg. Harris had a pair of curtains under his arm, and this led to Bianch!’s suspicion that he had committed some theft.
