Just take a look back over a certain | period of your life, and ask yourself what questions you needed to know to safeguard you in the years that, to a great extent, color your later life? It is not immodest to talk confidentially to the bey or girl on this sub ject. Many a young life has gone wrong through ignorance. Take any ten men or women and see how many have cause to regret thelr you ful ignorance. The children should be told as much as they can und stand before they begin to ask questions, for they usually don't as they have heard something. The question is whether you would rath they hear it on the school ground or the st or from you; whether it} is better for them to learn the facts from one they have faith tn, or from | strangers, in the crudest possible way? You bave shown by that you think it should be the mother, and I am going to tr you. You have waited a little long, but it is by no means too late. not going to advise you to put the books into thelr bangs, for, don't you think the better way will be to read up on the subject yourself and then) have a nice, “comfy” talk with the child, and show the true beauty of | the life issues? Go to the public library and ask for the latest books on eugenica and read long and well. Absorb as much as possible, and if you! don’t understand at first, dear mother, keep at it uatil you do. It simple question, and yet & great one, and one that cannot be read too deeply for the betterment of the future race, Can't you get your husband to join in this study? He really should. They are his ehildren, too, and you will both be doing them a service they will be grateful to you for through all their lives. I wish more mothers would write me along} these lines. You can get some one to cut you irregular pleces of wood from old trees, with the bark on, and then hollow out a small place in the center of the bark, to plant the fern; another way is to tack pieces of bark on the outside of small boxes; then you can ent a piece off a small, round | tree, make it about three inches, and scoop out the center for the fern | There is another thing you can do—you can press ferns and paste them on cardboard picture frames, put your glass on, and paste a binding of gilt paper or ribbon around it.
