La Follette for prest- dent. He is the pioneer progressive republican, Wisconsin whs the first republican state to enact a general state w election law. It was the first state to master the transportation prob- lem, so far as could be done by state legis lation. It was the first state to enact « pub- icl utilities law, and the first to conserve its natural resources by legislation. This was e oe accomplished under La Follette’s leader- | ship. Im Washington, La Follette has stood for sound and sane legisiation to correct the evils that have grown up in our national life. He bas clear judgment, great courage, in- Nexible purpows, and a cautious conserva tism that is rarely found in a man of bis aggressive temperament. Roosevelt, great leader that he fw, and closely as he has been connected with the details of American politics, was surprised during a recent visit in Wisconsin at the re markable progress that has been made in that state, and it was ex ceedingly gratifying to the admirers of the ex-president to read his words of unreserved praise and commendation of the great Wisconsin senator, Believing that it is for the best interests of the republican party ahd the best interests of the country that some one recognized to be in thorough sympathy with the progressive policies should be nomi: nated, it appears to me that the consistent and logical thing to do is to nominate Mr. La Follette. zi Sadens Rice Star clanelfied ads.
