Union Block, business only to bring sue the Brown Dental Offices, in the at 718 First ay, put under new management required two offices because the principles which coms and make his office one of the largest In the United States were hot yet recognized and understood by the public The dental combine was thon organized to keep dentists out of thie state, and the little old-fashioned dentist sald, “Hrown won't Inst jong, because dental work cannot be done good enough to be J rowh guar guaranteed, and anteon bis work,” but by 1904 Brown required four offices and four assistants, On July 16, 1991, were wore The Roots The Roots of Modern Dentistry of Modern Dentistry Permits dental work to be guaranteed and Permits dental work to be done so that done at prices far be- those charged by the combine den- #0 that work- ing people can have thelr teeth cared for, fillings stay tn, plates fit, and crowns and bridge work do the work of the natural teeth and give satis faction tow tata, The Brown Dental Offi- ces in 1904, when the Den- tal Combine had Dr. E. J. Brown arrested when there was no evidence against him. You see, he was hurting their business. In 1904 the whole Washington State Dental Society and Dental Board combined and made « furious assault on Dr. BE. J. Brown's of- fices. Every dentist who had ever been associated with Dr. Brown was blacklisted. The dental law enacted for the purpose Was put into operation, a lawyer was hired, regular assessments were made, money was solicited and accepted from advertising offices with which to prosecute and destroy Brown, Cappers and spys were hired and the combine dentists who use obsolete methods said; “We have got Brown now, sure. We won't grant him his license, and then we will persecute him and drive him away.” But Brown kept right on doing the best work for fair prices and guaranteeing his work and the peo- ple belteved in Brown's ethica because they could go to his office, have their teeth cared for and get out of his office with money in their pockets and their work guaranteed, while if they went to the combine dentist, they left his office broke, Business Grew And today after eight years of labor, Brown requires thirteen offices, one reception room for ladies, one for men, two extracting rooms, six operating rooms, one laborar tory for crown and bridge work, one for plate work and one reception office. And today, after eight years of labor, Brown requires a staff of twelve as ants, five opera- tors, two prosthelic dentists, three office ladies, one clerical man and one special assistant, making the largest staff in any dental office in the United States, outside of New York. The above cuts show the proportion of the Brown Dental Offices July 15, 1909, as to what they were July 15, 1901. The Brown Dental Offices, after eight years of continued success, aro without question the most modern, most elegantly appointed, and one of the most extensive and thoroughly equipped offices in the United States, and yet the antiquated combine dentista who live tn the past agos are saying, “It can't be done. Dental work can't be guaranteed.” “Dental work can't be done palniess.” “We have got Brown down now,” and this mutual admiration society continues to dream of the time when the people will not be able to distinguish “ethios ftom graft, hypocrisy from facts, stuffed Teddy Bears from live ones, and laws that are enacted to protect incompetent dentists against competition from laws enacted to protect the public.” The only strange thing to me ts, how can so many men calling themselves professional men, sleep so long and dream so furious a nightmare, all at the same time? EDWIN J. BROWN 713 FIRST AV, UNION BLOCK.
