LX Fe TEN PAGES ONE CENT GER S BACK IN SEATTLE LITTLE LOVE QUARREL LEADS TO GREAT SCARE FUGITIVE HAS RETURNED TO STAND TRIAL JOHN H, RIPLINGER, John Riplinger, former comptroller of the city of ____ justice, reached Seattle at 2 o'clock this afternoon from Honduras. Riplinger fled the city after his defeat by William Hickman Moore in the mayoralty contest of 1906. Some time after his disappearance it was discovered that he was short many thousands of dollars in his accounts with the city. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and the state department at Washington appealed to in an effort to secure his return to Seattle. Because of the lack of an extradition treaty, however, Riplinger could not be brought from Honduras. Two years ago Riplinger’s attorney, Will H. Morris, announced that some time within the follow- ing two years Riplinger would return to Seattle, pre- pared to stand trial. This promise was made good this afternoon, when Riplinger stepped from the west- bound Northern Pacific train. The exact date of Riplinger’s arrival was an- nounced in a telegram to Will H. Morris, received at 1:30 this afternoon. The train bearing the fugitive comptroller should have reached Seattle about noon today, but was delayed, and did not arrive until 2 nate as! o'clock WHAT SUFFRAGE WILL DO 1 not he formeny had no redre in ts perhaps of divorcees not aponalble suffrage most constantly since his condition | itt A.
