A city that today is in the midst of a coal famine, and whose very future depends wu securing a steady supply of fuel. We refer to the city of Edmonton, in the province of Alberta, Canada. A city that is coming to the front more rapidly than any on this continent. One that has doubled i ulation in the past year, and that will soon be the larg- est city in Western Canada. Situated in the heart of the richest wheat country in the world, with three transcontinental railroads, its future is assured. Manufacturing concerns are anx- fous to locate there; it occupies the vantage point in this whole territory. They have been held back simply on account of this lack of fuel. We cana supply this demand. We hold the key to this city's future We have struck naturel gas on our property, just north of Edmonton. A strong, steady flow of gus, that when lighted can be seen for miles around. A gas with a very strong petroleum odor. Twenty-three miles of pipe line will carry this gas to Edmonton and give us one of the most valuable franchises in Western Canada, and*by boring a few more wells we will have an unlimited supply. We say an unlimited and ineahaeaitte supply because of our experience in Grilling our first well, and that of the Canadian government, who in 1897 made an experimental bore in this same field, and were compelle dto stop drilling at sd of 820 feet on account of the immense flow of Natural Gas. We quote from the log of this well as Pn in volume ro of the annual re- port of the Canadian Geological Survey, 4s follows: “$90-265 ft. Hard sand rock, with layers of softer rock. At about 355 feet struck elliot a very heavy specific gravity. * * ° “Several barrels ran away into the river. There was a good deal of gas with this heavy pe- teoteum. “€20-028 ft.
