One-Fifth Saved By Buying at the Bon Marche Tomorrow Ne - 7 Seattle people are now realizing fully what we meagp | f | " THE BON MARCHE prunes SEERA L a week ago when we said we would discount every slip and bill of goods bought at this store, until further notice, 20 per cent., or one-fifth, It is an absolute fact that our sales have been about double those of a year for the same days in July. We did not really expect continue the sale more than one week when we started th and as no such sale has ever before been held in Seag s something of a departure, even for the Bon M to leave out all price items from our advertisements 7 place before the publica mere statement of a discoump off the face value of every bill of goods sold in the store until further notice Our Stock Is So Enormous That we cannot display it properly and hence tnless our customers ask to see needed goods, they must go away with dy oftentimes, that we may not have the articles wanted, so crowded are the shelves and counters ofthe old | ce for the largest and best known store north of San Francisco and west of neapolis. It is because of this wonderful growth and popularity of the Bon Marche that we have been obliged to buildg’ new store over our heads, as it were. For that is what we are actually doing at the present time. In another week thy roof will be on the new store, for already the walls, pillars and cross beams are nearly all in place. Yet. you, who visited the Bon Marche from day to day, have suffered very little inconvenience because of the building operations. Tos | however, the task of condensing stock to allow pillars space where fixtures for goods previously were, as well as a general setting and digarranging of selling space, has been a considerable task. The Object of the Twenty Per Cent Of Sale Is to Still Further Condense Stock © It will be but comparatively few days now before the elevators will be put in place and stairways built to the second of the new building, and the walls of the second story will be completed. At that time the bulk of the stock now on main selling floor will be moved to the second floor salesroom. The contractors will then tear out the walls of the first as far as is necessary in reconstructing the building and the selling of the Bon Marche will be conducted, for the most for a few weeks, at least, on the second floor, After the building is completed the various departments will be according to the plans and arrangments of the management of the Bon Marche. . It will not be hard to see that all this changing about will require much moving of stocks hither and thiether, and to our advantage to have as little extra stock as possible at the time of each moving. It is for this reason that our au tomers are now invited to buy our goods at prices an average of actual cost to us. In other words, we are willing for a peri of 10 days or two weeks to conduct a profitless business so that we may not be overcrowded when we change our from the first to the second floor. ' Just a Word About Marked Down Prices In starting this sale we did not take the regular selling prices for summer goods, but adhered to the former m down prices of special sales in many departments. This is true of Shirt Waists, Millinery, Women’s Suits and Coats, bons, Laces, etc. In fact, the bulk of the summer goods that we had been cutting prices to close out, were left at the est advertised price, and the 20 per cent. is deducted from that low price. We make this explanation Se aoe have summer goods to buy that they are getting the advantage, in a great many cases, of the former bargain prices, wi per cent. substracted therefrom. ps We Want Our Out-of-Town Customers to Share For this reason we are filling all mail orders at the 20 per cent. reduction, and shall continue to do so further notice. While we cannot give accurate descriptions of goods for out of town customers, we are yet ready guarantee prompt attention to mail orders, and would suggest that you send the money you want to pay for the goods as close a description as possible. Our experienced mail order department will do the rest. . This Sale Will Close Very Soon We may continue it throughout the week, and it may be shut off any day. Much depentls upon the haste made by contractors, for our plans are more or less shaped by their progress. Judging from appearance now, it will not . for you to delay if y@t would buy apparel or household needs at a fifth fess than the smallest prices. No Goods Sold to Retailers The 20 per cent. will not be allowed retailers—neither will we sell very large quantities to part i all our customers to get the full benfit of the extraordinary reduction. srbasvie aie: as privat jee, WS it w ¥ impressio that has served as a home and selling p!
