The City of Sydnmey, which arrived Thursday night from Ancon and way ports, docked early yesterday morning at Lombard street. She brought thir- teen cabin passengers, five white in the steerage and three Chiness 'n transit to Hongkong. Among the pas- sengers were Walter M. Castie, a well- known merchant here, and Albert J. Schurzer, manager of the railroad sys- tems at Salvador, who comes here on account of lliness. The steamer would have brought to this port about sixty- eight of the Soath and Central Ameri- can delegates, who are bound to the Pan-American conference at Rio de Janeiro, but for the reason they could not find hotel accommodations here. As it was, they came as far as Sa- linas Cruz and from there embarked by rall across the country. The City of Sydney brought 885 tons of freight, which Included 1182 bags of coffee, 1197 bunches of bananas, 307 cases of tomatoes from Maszatlan, § cases of peppers and 29 parrots. She found plenty of freight awaiting her at the different ports she called at, but the shippers were afrald to send it, fearing that there would be no ware- house accommodations here to re- ceive it Captain MclLean reporws an unusu- ally pleasant trip up the coast.
