These DOWIE CHANCES AL HIS PUANS Hopes to Settle Quarrel in the Christian Catholie Church by Arbitration CHICAGO, April 11.—At the conclu- sion of a day of conferences between representatives of the opposing inter- ests of the Christian Catholic Church, the statement was made at midnight that the whole controversy would prob- ably be settled by arbitration. Both sides to the dispute, according to At- torney Emil C. Wetton, John Alexan- der Dowie’s legal representative, are anxious for an amicable adjustment of the whole dispute. Attorney Wetton, in making his statement, sald Dowie had appointed him to speak officially for himself (Dowie) while the negotiations for a settlement were going on. Wetton said: The report that Dr. Dowie would seek re- dress in the courts is entirely wrong. That will be our last resort and I am of the opinjon tonight that there will be no need to ask the courts for assistance. Dr. Dowle's prin- cipal desire in this matter is to see that every person who has ever invested a dollar in Zion City or any of the business enterprises of his receives payment in full on investments. Our plans are still only in the primary stage, but a plan Is being considered whereby an effort will be made to have the whole affair left to a board of arbitration to be chosen from representatives of both sides. ——aipme SURGEONS PROVIDE A NEW OUTLET FOR HIS STOMACH Invalid Is on Way to Complete Recov- ery After an Unusual Operation, NEW YORK, April 11.—Charles H. Said he: ‘With the approach of Easter come stories of a threatened massacre in Russia. The perse- cution of Hebrews because they are Hebrews is today tolerated in but few places in the Christian world, but _the spirit that is 1 breathed in the words *“‘Christ killer’” is found on the tongues of Christians in the New as well as the Old World. The perseeution of Hebrews has aiways ceased with apostasy. It is so in Russia today. Hebrews can ubtain safety of iffe and property by declaring a be- lief in the Russian Greek church. We can preach in the press and pulpit that the statement that Jesus Christ was crucified by Hebrews is the wickedest falsehood that ever came, from human lips. If Christ was mortal, if he was the son of Joseph and Mary, he was crucified by the Romans. If he was the Son of God. he was crucified by the direc- tion of his_ father.
