The three men, who give their names as Battainl Glovannl, Rigci Jacinto and Gogna Marco, tell con- fiicting stories, and it is thought by the police that some one of them will break down and tell the whereabouts of the chiid, The thres men who were arrested yes- terday were at the house on the day the child disappeared and a conversation con- cerning the child was overheard by the mother, who took it up and upon belng asked what the child was worth re- marked, “The child may not be worth much to you, but it is worth all I have to me.” The mother then left the three men, and taking the child went into the house. A short while afterward the child dis- appeared and a search of the neighbor- hood failed to show any trace of it. Gogna Marco, who was working for Toso, was immediately questioned and shortly thereafter he asked for his time and came to the city. This aroused the sus- picions of the father and after several days of faithful searching without suc- cess he finally decided to have the three men arrested. Toso came to the city and Officer Esola was appointed on the case. Marco was soon found on the street near the cormer of Broadway and Davis and was taken to the Hall of Justice. Toso and Esola then went to Colma, where the other two men were found and brought to the city. The men tell conflicting stories and all of them contradict Mrs. Toso in regard to the conversation alleged to have been held on the day the child disappeared. The police are confident, however, that they have the right men and believe that that in a few days the child will be found. The father has offered a reward of $500 for the recovery of the child and $1000 additional for the arrest of the kid- napers. —————— SAN FRANCISCANS HAVE FAITH IN FUTURE OF BAKERSFIELD Newly Formed Corporation With a Capital of $100,000 to Bulld a * Business Block.
