Once begun. it is asserted, the work will be hurried until completed. It is now very well known that it was with 2 view of providing means for the execution of this work that an increase of $35,000,000 in the capital stock of the company was autborized a little more than 2 year ago. The issue of that addi- tional capital stock has not yet takenm place, but it is now said that it will oceur shortly and the proceeds will be applied to the purpose in view when it was originally authorized. The delay in its issuance was due to a traffic arrangement the road was able to make with the Union Pacific and the Southern Pacific, which placed it upon an equality with the Chicago and Northwest- ern in dealing with the roads named. That arrangement gave it a through ser- vice, both passenger and freight, to Cali- fornia and North Pacific Coast peints. the Milwaukee and St. Paul ————— Federal Judgeship for Hunt.
